It can be so daunting launching your own business; there are so many things to consider away from the actual job you are trained to do! Trust me, I know. I set up my company five years ago and have literally done everything myself. Some activities I have been naturally good at, such as creative design, branding and formal document template creation - which were all put to good use to create the whole of my brand new product range but also my business cards, brochures, letterheads, contracts, and assessment and recording report formats.

There have been some other things that I have needed to improve, through training and practical experience. An example of this would be Social Media, which I would now count as one of my core skills. Other key tasks, such as building websites, have been successful but clearly big learning curves.  I  designed and built this website and my other one (www.childrensdigitaldownloadtherapyresources.com) by myself. Whether new skills or old, these activities all take an awful lot of time to implement and I have a great amount of empathy for therapists starting up their businesses on their own.

I have been eager to help therapists, and other professionals in related specialisms, with their own businesses. I have offered some coaching (both business related and personal development) and some business support, including the creation of logos, websites and visual branding, assisting with social media accounts and the development of their own client based recording templates for their work. 

In addition to these activities, I have also had a lot of success developing more formal pieces of activities for larger organisations. In the past, for example, I have devised templates for Autism Assessment that have been used across two large NHS Trusts. In my current professional life, I create a lot of branded social media material for The British Association of Play Therapists .
