Adoption Support Fund

Who Is Entitled To Adoption Support Fund (ASF) Packages?

Play Therapy and Filial Therapy are both approved by the ASF. This means that the ASF recognise these therapies as evidenced based, effective interventions that it is willing to pay for to meet identified needs of children. Each adopted child, and any child placed under a Special Guardianship Order (SGO) who was in local authority care prior to the SGO, are entitled to a sum of money per year where there are specific unmet therapeutic needs. Access to the ASF is via a social work assessment that is no older than three months old. For more information about a social work assessment, contact your local authority social care departments.
